THE LITTLE DETAILS

How rankings work

Popular counts clicks to a game’s website—not time spent playing.

Repeat clicks from the same browser count once per game every 24 hours. Repeated clicks do not restart that timer.

Times use the server’s UTC clock. Ties use all-time clicks, then publication date, then game ID. Editor’s picks are separate from popularity.

These are outbound clicks, not unique people or confirmed plays. Cookies can be cleared, browsers can differ, and bots are not perfectly detected. If cookies are blocked or counting is unavailable, the game link still works but the click is not counted.
